Stardust protective flooring – fine rubber flooring with 5% EPDM flecks
The Stardust 5% EPDM Overlayer protective flooring combines a rubber base with an additional hot-laminated top layer. The particularly smooth surface and cream-white EPDM flecks make it the ideal choice for equipment areas and free weight areas where appearance also matters. Dust, chalk, and minor soiling are less noticeable than on solid black rubber mats.
In the size 1000 × 1000 mm, the mat can be used for individual training areas or continuous areas in the home gym and fitness studio. You can choose between 15 and 20 mm thickness.

15 or 20 mm – which thickness is right for your training?
The 15 mm version is suitable if you mainly train on strength training equipment, a power rack or a weight bench and place weights down in a controlled manner. It is a suitable choice when floor protection under the equipment is the priority. Its lower profile makes transitions to adjacent flooring easier, and the individual mats are also easier to transport and cut.
If you regularly train with dumbbells or barbells and want additional impact and vibration damping when setting them down, the 20 mm version is recommended. This is particularly interesting for areas where weights frequently make contact with the floor. However, take into account the higher profile, for example under doors, and the higher weight when laying the mats.
Important: Even 20 mm does not provide blanket approval for dropping weights. The substrate, floor construction, weight and drop height must be considered separately.
REACH compliance and fire rating
For the 20 mm version, a REACH declaration of conformity is provided. The fire rating of this version is classified as Efl.
Stardust or Standard – which version is right for you?
The Standard protective flooring has a classic black granulated surface. Stardust adds an additional, particularly smooth top layer with cream-white EPDM flecks to the rubber base.
Choose Stardust if you prefer a flecked training surface where dust and chalk are less noticeable. A higher permissible load capacity cannot be inferred from the additional top layer alone.
You can find other versions under Protective flooring for home gym and fitness studio.
Laying and cutting
Plan your area using the mat dimensions and allow for cuts along walls or built-in fixtures. A sharp utility knife with a sturdy guide rail is suitable for cutting. Make several shallow cuts and then remove any loose rubber particles.
For sensitive flooring: Clarify material compatibility with the manufacturer of your existing floor before laying. The top layer does not prevent the rubber underside from coming into contact with the substrate. If necessary, a separator suitable for both materials should be provided.
Note on the material-specific odor
Rubber mats have a material-specific odor. This can be particularly noticeable in small or poorly ventilated rooms. Take this into account when planning the room and ensure regular air exchange – especially in training rooms without windows.
